Why pave River Road?

To the editor:

I can’t say enough how disappointed I was in the County Commissioners’ vote to pave a portion of River Road at their April 20 meeting. After hearing a unanimous consensus that people who live on the road, ride on the road and have businesses on the road do not want it paved and after not one person, not one, appeared to speak in favor of paving, the Commission, with the exception  of Saluda’s Shane Bradley,  voted to pave.

Not only riders and carriage drivers, but runners, dog walkers, etc. also have expressed opinions that they did not want to see River Road paved. So why spend money where it is not wanted?  Aren’t there enough other projects in the county that are needed and wanted?
