SCLT cleans tires out of nature park

The Saluda Community Land Trust recently cleaned out more than 90 tires from the Saluda Nature Park. Saluda City Commissioner Carolyn Ashburn updated city council during its Feb. 9 meeting saying the land trust did an amazing job.

Volunteers sought for Saluda Play Date in April

The City of Saluda is planning a play date for area children on April 25 and is seeking volunteers. Commissioner Carolyn Ashburn said during the city’s Feb. 9 meeting the play date is planned for the morning of April 25 at McCreery Park. The play date is part of a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation.

Saluda becomes sister city with Carunchio, Italy

The City of Saluda approved during its Feb. 9 meeting to become a sister city with Carunchio, Italy. The city paid $150 to be a part of the sister city program. Saluda hopes residents of Carunchio will visit Saluda and residents of Saluda will visit Carunchio through the program.

Saluda approves new cleaning bid

Saluda City Council approved a bid from John Welsh to be the city’s building cleaning contractor. The bid was approved for $225 per week. Welsh will be contracted and carry his own insurance and have his own cleaning supplies.

Columbus Police to sponsor Glow Run

The Columbus Police Department is again sponsoring the Race 4 The Fallen Glow Run, a night time family fun 5K race for participants of all ages and speeds, on May 2 in Columbus. Registration is online through active.com. The race is managed by the Police Benevolent Foundation and the NCPBA, Inc.

Color Run scheduled for Landrum May 9

Spartanburg County School District One is holding a Color Run on May 9 in Landrum. The course will begin at Landrum Middle School, run through downtown Landrum to S. Shamrock, and back to Brookwood Park.
