Polk County District Court results for Sept. 17

In Polk County District Court on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, with Judge Emily Cowan presiding, 216 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.
The following persons were convicted of a crime:
Maurice Eugene Allen was convicted of misdemeanor flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle, simple possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Allen was sentenced to 18 months supervised probation, eight hours of driving school and court costs for flee/elude arrest and sentenced to 18 months supervised probation for possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Oscar Armando Aranda was convicted of speeding 74 mph in a 65 mph zone. Aranda was fined $30 and court costs.
Larry Wayne Brady was convicted of misdemeanor flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle and resisting public officer. Brady was sentenced to 60 days in jail with credit for time served.
Jeremiah Christian Cook was convicted of speeding 79 mph in a 65 mph zone and simple possession of schedule V controlled substance. Cook was sentenced to 12 months unsupervised probation, a $100 fine and court costs.
Nicholas Bryant Jolly was convicted of impaired equipment. Jolly was fined $40 and court costs.
John Andrew McGraw was convicted of failure to appear on misdemeanor. McGraw was sentenced to 12 days in jail with credit for time served and court costs.
Paris Lavar Phillips was convicted of possession of marijuana up to ½ ounce. Phillips was to pay court costs.
Robert Lee Shugart was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Shugart was sentenced to 18 months supervised probation, 24 hours of community service and court costs.
James Alexander Streeter was convicted of impaired equipment. Streeter was fined $40 and court costs.
Scotty Lynn Tyree was convicted of speeding 74 mph in a 65 mph zone. Tyree was fined $50 and court costs.
Tricia Lynn Vorrasi was convicted of possession of methamphetamine. Vorrasi was sentenced to 18 months supervised probation and court costs.
Mathhew Scott Zachary was convicted of two counts of felony larceny. Zachary was sentenced to 18 months supervised probation and court costs.
