Calligraphy artist at TPS

Tryon Painters and Sculptors will feature calligraphy artist Catherine Langsdorf at the Art, Wine and Cheese Demonstration on Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 4-6 p.m.
Catherine recently demonstrated her skills during the Art on Main exhibit in Hendersonville. She displayed exquisite illustration and writing skills while using an offset calligraphy pen and gouache inks.
Originally from Arlington Heights, Illinois, Ms Langsdorf is a graduate of Carthage College and now lives in the mountains of North Carolina.
Catherine’s business is called Long Village Studio and it offers calligraphy services for Western North Carolina. Services include: weddings, addressing envelopes, placecards, certificates, on-of-a-kind artwork. Recently she has included chalkboard designs and larger signs for weddings and businesses.
The calligraphy presentation at Tryon Painters and Sculptors gallery will include a question and answer time with the artist, wine and cheese, and is free to the public.
The gallery is located at 26 Maple Street in Tryon and features the work of local artists. It is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The current show is the Member’s Exhibit. A gift gallery also is located in the facility featuring affordable handmade items.
