St. Luke’s Hospital is pleased to announce receipt of a grant in the amount of $4,874 from The Bosien Fund of the Polk County Community Foundation
(PCCF) to support three educational travel opportunities for hospital staff.
This year’s award provided funding for an RN and department manager to attend the North Carolina Council of Community Programs 2012 Conference – “Anticipate Success: Know Your Next Steps.”
The conference addressed issues arising from the restructuring of the mental health system in North Carolina due to the recent implementation of the Medicare waiver through Managed Care Organizations.
In addition, funding was provided for a hospital social worker to attend a professional conference or training at the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-NC) in Asheville and/or attend the annual national conference in Washington, D.C. NASW conferences offer a wide variety of presentations and workshops designed to provide valuable education and insight regarding effective social work practices and techniques. They focus on professional development, social worker physical and mental self-care, alternative practices and therapies, as well as general issues related to the practice of social work.
