The Carolina Carriage Club will hold its 16th Annual Pleasure Driving and Dressage Show at Harmon Field Sept. 28-30.

The dressage competition will start Friday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m., with Jackie Lewis of Columbus judging the dressage competition.

Starting on Saturday at 9 a.m., Working Pleasure classes follow Traditional and Marathon Vehicle classes and will be judged by Tracy Laufer of Utica, Penn. These classes are divided into horse, pony, VSEs (very small equines), as are the Obstacle (a.k.a. “Cones”) classes that run concurrently with the pleasure classes, judged by course designer Lyle Petersen of Mars Hill, N.C., with Reverse Psychology and Timed Obstacles on Saturday and Gambler’s Choice and Scurry on Sunday.

After Saturday’s lunch break, Lady to Drive, Gentleman to Drive, Junior to Drive, Jack Benny to Drive (60 or over – 10 competitors have already admitted they qualify) will take place. Saturday’s schedule will end with the ever-popular Carriage Dog Class.

On Sunday morning at 9 a.m., Reinsmanship classes (where the drivers’ skills are judged – similar to equitation in the hunter/jumper shows) will be in one ring and the Obstacle classes will be in the other.

Returning to defend her title is the 2011 overall pleasure champion, the now 22-year-old Morgan mare GJL High Anxiety, owned by Suzan Sallstrom of Aiken, S.C.
