Opening reception set for Sept. 29
Skyuka Fine Art has announced it will hold an opening reception for a show of Richard Christian Nelson’s “Recent Work” on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 5-8 p.m.
This show features Nelson’s paintings as well as the drawings for which he is becoming increasingly known. Local landscapes and many paintings from his travels are featured, as well as still life, figurative and portrait works from the last year.
Nelson has been particularly focused on trying to capture the light and atmosphere in his representational works of people, places and things.
The opening reception coincides with the town’s popular Tryon Gallery Trot, featuring 13 galleries, shops, restaurants and organizations that participate with openings, demonstrations and live music in the center of town.
Nelson’s show runs from Sept. 29 to Oct. 31.
Skyuka Fine Art also announced that this show will be featured nationally in American Art Collector magazine. There will be an article about the show in the October issue of this prestigious publication. Free copies will be available at the gallery to commemorate Tryon and the gallery’s foray into the national art spotlight.
As the gallery approaches its second anniversary, it has invited artists with national reputations to join the terrific local and regional artists who show here.
Nelson’s “Recent Work” is the first of three consecutive solo shows. November will feature Bart Lindstrom from Atlanta, and in December Nashville’s Dawn Whitelaw will be featured. Both of these artists have a large following across the country.
Skyuka Fine Art is located in downtown Tryon at 133 N. Trade Street. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, visit skyukafineart.com, contact info@skyukafineart.com or call 828-817-3783.
