Columbus police arrest clerk for selling alcohol, tobacco to minors

On Monday, June 25, the Columbus Police Department arrested Trent Clifton Caldwell, 40, of Tryon following an investigation of selling alcohol and tobacco products to minors, including a 15-year-old juvenile.

Caldwell was charged with three counts of selling tobacco products to minors, one count of selling alcohol to a minor, four counts of aiding and abetting underage possession of alcohol and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Caldwell was given a written promise to appear with a first court date of July 25.

Columbus Police Department officials said they will continue to be vigilant and aggressive in investigating and prosecuting those who provide alcohol and tobacco to minors.
