Singer-songwriter Gigi Dover and her band, The Big Love, will perform at Overmountain Vineyards & Winery (www.overmountainvineyards.com) on Sunday, May 20.

The event is a fundraiser for the newly formed Slow Food Foothills, Polk County, a subchapter of Slow Food Asheville. The radio station WNCW (www.wncw.org) is sponsoring the event. In addition, a silent auction will be on site.
Gigi Dover and The Big Love has performed at Roger’s Park in Tryon and The Purple Onion in Saluda. Dover (www.gigidover.com) has been a staple of the music scene in North Carolina since the late 1990s, when she performed with the Americana band, The Rank Outsiders.
After success with that group and a stint as a solo artist, Dover is continuing her career with The Big Love, a Charlotte-based band. Dover and her partner, Eric Lovell, incorporate world music instruments such as sitar, rebab, tambura, melodica, ukulele, mandolin and glockenspiel into their sound, taking listeners through a multitude of styles and genres.
The group’s new CD is called “The Robin Is High and the Mustache Is Long.” The owl featured on the CD’s cover was painted by Dover and is a symbol for a cause she said is dear to her heart: To increase awareness of the illegal owl trade in India. The song “Night Song” was created as a tribute to this cause.
