Chase Owens shows off one of his pet snakes (above). Debbie Pierce and Charlie, her cougar that walks on a leash (below). Both Pierce and Owens were participants in last year’s Foothills Humane Society Animal Fair. This year’s FHS Animal Fair will be held May 6 from 1-4 p.m. The organization has held the event on the first Sunday in May for the past 10 years. This year’s theme is “Rescues and Happy Endings.” During the evening there will be several interesting exhibits around that theme, including a wolf that walks on a leash. The NC Civil War reenactors will also set up an encampment and bring horses, two of which are rescued. To purchase tickets you can call Bertie Phayer at 864-457-4038. (photos by Judith Kerns)
