The Polk County High School Cadets Marching Band will hold a fish fry Saturday, April 29 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Polk High.
The band’s fish fry last fall got great reviews, organizers said, so they decided to repeat the event this spring. There will be live music, with all of the students sharing solos and ensembles they have been preparing this semester. They will play throughout the day. Tickets are available from any student or you can call Cindy Gilbert (music director) at the high school at 828-894-2525 to purchase advance tickets.
The Cadets completed the 2011 season with first place trophies at all three competitions and class championships at the final two events. The band is already gearing up for next season. The majority of the band’s expenses are paid through fundraisers, Gilbert said, so community support is a big part of what makes marching band possible.
