Over Landrum’s Spring Break, softball coach Tucker Hamrick got a surprise.

He woke up one morning to find his car was covered in sticky notes. To be exact, it was covered in 7,000 sticky notes. Each sticky note had a message written on it. Some were things that the coach is always saying to his players. Others were things that his players picked on him about.

All of the 7,000 messages might have been individual notes, but they all gave the same message.

Hamrick, standing near third base after a 25-0 win over Whitmire on Monday afternoon, said that one message has been loud and clear on the playing field this season.

“The team has gelled together well,” he said. “They’re all supporting each other. They’re backing each other up.”

Hamrick wasn’t mad about the sticky notes because of that.

“They did it together,” he said. “I’m proud of that.”

Landrum’s journey to another region championship has hinged on that togetherness. The Lady Cardinals (10-3, 9-0) have been even more dominant this season and that team mentality is a major reason why, Hamrick said.

That dominance was on full display Monday as Landrum dismantled Whitmire.

Jordan Farmer struck out eight en route to a no-hitter.

The offense erupted. Catcher Bre Cuff had her best offensive performance of her career. The senior finished the game 4-for-4 with nine RBIs. She hit two homers, including a grand slam.

Cuff attributed this team’s performance to chemistry as well.

“You can just tell that we work well together,” she said.

Lauren Pitts went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, including a grand slam. Taylor Jenkins finished the game 3-for-4 with four RBIs.

Landrum will play Christ Church tonight at 7 p.m.
