American Red Cross disaster relief training Feb. 4

On Feb. 4, disaster relief training will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for all those interested in becoming part of the disaster action team that serves McDowell, Polk and Rutherford counties. This course will be held at the American Red Cross located at 83 Oakland Road, Forest City, N.C.
This course will provide an overview and introduction to disaster services at the American Red Cross, after which participants will have the opportunity to complete a volunteer application. Attendees will learn the role of the American Red Cross in disaster relief and its daily mission to serve the residents of Western North Carolina as well as the entire nation.
All interested parties are welcome to attend and pre-registration is requested.

In 2011, American Red Cross disaster action teams responded to more than 200 incidents of disaster in Western North Carolina. These teams are designed to deliver timely and responsive aid to victims of disaster throughout the region.
