The Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry has a long history of giving to the community and lending a helping hand to our neighbors when in a time of need.
They provide food, utilities, transportation, prescriptions, affordable housing, dental services, access to health care and more.
Although I have not had the pleasure of personally meeting Eloise Thwing, an image of her and who she is has developed in my mind by the many comments I have heard about this remarkable woman.
She is kind, exceptional, amazing and giving in the eyes of the community. Many refer to her as the founder of the Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry. It is obvious she has been a driving force for the last 20 years and that many families and individuals have been helped during their time of need.
We would like to extend our thank you for your selfless giving and wish you well Eloise. Polk County is a better place because of people and organizations like you. The recent controversy over the handling of Eloise’s retirement has been covered in the Tryon Daily Bulletin. Could this situation have been handled better, perhaps, but I don’t believe there was any ill intent. Those involved are very appreciative of Eloise, her guidance and leadership over the years. We encourage you to continue your support of this fine organization that has helped so many in our community – I’m sure Eloise would want it that way. Carol Newton, who has been named the chief operating officer, is also a great asset to the community and will help to ensure the tradition of helping those in Polk County will continue.
