Polk County High School has announced its boys soccer roster for the 2025 season, featuring a veteran-heavy varsity squad anchored by 11 returning seniors as the team prepares for competition in a new conference.
Head coach George Alley selected 37 players total following tryouts conducted in sweltering heat conditions. The varsity roster includes 18 players, plus two dual roster players, while 17 athletes earned spots on the junior varsity team.
Senior Thomas Varnadore will serve as team captain, leading a core group of 11 12th-graders that includes Jonathan Aguirre, Blake Anderson, Brinson Ashworth, Sebastian Azar, William Garrison, Nathaniel Harms, Wyatt Highsmith, Mason Hudson, Cooper Meyer and Tanner Osborn.

“We had a great turnout for tryouts and the boys worked hard, despite the high heat index,” Alley said. “We have an 11-strong returning senior class that will anchor a varsity squad led by senior captain Thomas Varnadore.”
The varsity roster also features five juniors, three sophomores and one freshman, providing a balanced mix of experience and emerging talent.
Polk County is coming off a successful 2024 campaign that saw the team post a 15-5-3 record. The Wolverines will face new challenges this season as they transition to the Western Highlands Conference and the 3A classification.
“We look forward to competing in our new conference and believe we can build on our 15-5-3 record last year to compete for a conference championship and a deep run into the playoffs,” Alley said.
The program has undergone coaching staff changes heading into the new season. Blair Ruth has been named head coach of the JV program, while Ken Abrahamsen joins the staff as goalkeeping coach.
