FOOTHILLS—The Rotary Club of Tryon is gearing up for its 23rd Annual Shrimpfest, a tradition that first launched in 2002 and has since grown into the club’s signature fundraising event. This year’s Shrimpfest will take place on September 12, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Landrum Farmers Market, at 221 W. Rutherford St., marking the third consecutive year the event will be held at this location.

Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with delectable food, lively music, and community spirit. Ticket holders will enjoy a delicious dinner featuring boiled shrimp, bratwurst, roasted potatoes, cole slaw, and corn on the cob. Guests will also be treated to a variety of drinks, including beer, wine, and soft drinks, along with an array of homemade desserts. The ticket price is set at $65, with proceeds directly supporting the ongoing initiatives of the Rotary Club of Tryon.

This year’s musical entertainment will be provided by the acclaimed Jim Peterman Quartet, promising to create an enjoyable atmosphere for attendees to dine, socialize, and dance the night away. In addition to the great food and music, guests will have the chance to win door prizes and participate in a silent auction, featuring an enticing selection of items.

The Rotary Club of Tryon Foundation has a rich history of giving back to the community, having donated approximately $80,000 in the past year alone to local organizations and worthwhile projects. The contributions include $37,000 in scholarships for local students, $15,000 toward the construction of the new Polk County YMCA, and grants to various local organizations, including the Polk County History Association and Caregiver Connections. Furthermore, $5,000 has been allocated to support the Reading is Fundamental program in elementary schools, and another $5,000 is designated for hurricane rebuilding efforts. The foundation continues its commitment to global causes, with $3,000 directed towards fighting polio and Alzheimer’s disease.
