The Tryon Country Club Men’s Golf Association recently played an Individual Low Net format using a “Red, White, and Blue Tees” format. They also had a closest-to-the-pin contest on the par 3s. There were 13 players with net scores under par, and the winners are listed below:

1st place – Art Brown – 30

2nd place – John Schickling – 32

3rd place – Vic Ketchman – 33

4th place – Bill Basye – 33

5th place – George Torres – 33

6th place – Ron Bircher – 33

Closest-to-the-pin on #3 – Tom Bolling – 6’ 1”

Closest-to-the-pin on #8 – Hub Arledge – 11’ 4”

The Tryon Country Club Women’s Golf Association played a “Mixed Bag” format on Tuesday, July 8, along with a “Low Putts” contest. The temperature was high, but a couple of scores were low. The results were as follows:

1st place – Patty Aldred, Caroline Brown, Reid Toth/(BP) Diane Torres, (BP) Kathy Clark – 54

2nd place – Joyce Arledge, Becky Kennedy, Peggy Henson, Diane Torres – 55

Low Putts:

1st – Lisa Bjerring,  Diane Torres – each with 17 Putts

3rd – Heidi Shull, Patty Aldred, Marge Avery – each with 18 Putts
