SALUDA— The Polk County Unity Masonic Lodge, located at 662 Ozone Drive in Saluda, will hold its charity fundraiser BBQ event on Saturday, June 28, from noon to 5 p.m. The lodge will also have its Traditional Coon Dog Day Charity fundraising breakfast on Saturday, July 12.

David Guice, a member of the lodge, emphasized the community’s support. “We’ve been doing this since 2018, and have gotten a tremendous response,” he said. “ Folks around the area really enjoy the BBQ.”

During the BBQ fundraiser, attendees can purchase pulled pork by the pound in vacuum-sealed packages for $12 or opt for half racks of ribs at $15. The lodge will serve a tasty lunch featuring pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, and hushpuppies for $12. A similar option, which includes a half rack of BBQ ribs, is available for $15.

In addition to the BBQ event, the Masonic Lodge will hold its Traditional Coon Dog Day Charity Breakfast, featuring a spread of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, fried potatoes and onions, biscuits with sausage gravy, along with juices and coffee all for $12 per plate.

The Polk County Unity Masonic Lodge #482 is well-regarded for its commitment to community involvement. It hosts various events, including fundraisers and Veterans’ appreciation dinners. Proceeds from these events not only support local charities but also contribute to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford as part of its philanthropic efforts under its 501(c)(3) designation.

“The fundraisers are a great way to help our community and get people working together in a common cause,” Guice adds.

The lodge invites all community members to join in the festivities and encourages those interested in Freemasonry to consider becoming new members.
