Polk County Middle School will host its annual Sixth Grade Jumpstart program on Monday, July 21, providing incoming students an opportunity to experience middle school life before the academic year begins.
The program, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., is optional for all sixth-grade students and will include breakfast and lunch at no cost to families.
During the full-day orientation, students will meet their teachers and participate in activities designed to simulate a typical middle school day. The program aims to ease the transition from elementary to middle school by familiarizing students with the building layout, daily schedule, and academic expectations.
Parents must register their children for the program. Registration information is available through the school, and families with questions may contact the school office at 828-894-2215.
The Jumpstart program is part of the school’s ongoing efforts to support student success during the critical transition to middle school. Sixth graders typically face new challenges, including changing classes, using lockers and navigating a larger campus.
