Modern take general store coming to downtown Landrum
LANDRUM—Landrum Mercantile will open its doors to the public on Friday, June 13, in downtown Landrum. The mercantile will offer a new take on the classic general store, curating a variety of thoughtfully designed home goods, lifestyle essentials, and other unique finds for everyday living.
Landrum Mercantile prides itself on offering locally made products, specialty foods, and unique gifts that can only be found inside its store. Crafting gift baskets is one of the many specialties that Landrum Mercantile has to offer, just in time for Father’s Day shopping.
Owners Lisa and Amy met in Virginia when they were twelve years old and quickly hit it off as friends, and now, nearly forty years later, they are becoming business partners within Landrum Mercantile.
“Lisa and I are like sisters,” said Amy on Wednesday. “It means the world to us to open Landrum Mercantile together. We look forward to making many new friends in the Landrum community.”
The new business also plans to serve as a community gathering place with special events, classes, workshops, and spotlights from many different creators and artists throughout the region.
Artists from the Upstate and Western North Carolina areas will regularly visit the store and host discussions and panels, engaging with the community about their works, Amy said. Landrum Mercantile will also feature classes and workshops on candle making, terrarium building, watercolor painting, and moss wall art.
Landrum Mercantile is located at 207 E Rutherford St. in Landrum.
