TRYON—Champions for Wildlife will host a series of free, family-friendly events this summer designed to connect Polk County families with nature through hands-on art activities.

The Wild for Summer event series offers multiple opportunities for children and parents to explore wildlife through creative, educational projects.

“No artistic experience is required—just an interest in animals and a willingness to create,” said Champions for Wildlife co-founder Loti Woods.

The first event, Wild for Red Wolves, will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 21, at the Tryon Depot. Children will learn about red wolves, one of the world’s most endangered wolf species, through an engaging presentation from wildlife educators. Participants will then sculpt their own red wolf creation to take home. All supplies will be provided. Registration is available at championsforwildlife.org/upcoming-events.

Two additional events are scheduled: Wild for Turtles on Thursday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at Tryon Depot and Wild for Birds on Wednesday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to noon at Swiftwater Farms.

“Each event will feature a different wildlife theme and combine art and environmental education in an inclusive setting,” Woods explains.

The series is made possible by a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation. All events are free and open to the public.
