TRYON—Tryon Little Theater recently nominated Monica Jones for induction into the Second Wind Hall of Fam, and the SWHF board accepted the nomination. Monica was officially inducted at the opening of “Four Old Broads” at the TLT Workshop on Thursday, May 1.
Monica has volunteered at Tryon Little Theater for many years, doing publicity and photography as well as performing in some productions. She has also been a Big Sister to a young woman who was disadvantaged, who later went on to college on a full scholarship and has been successful in her life.
Monica has served on the Polk County Community Foundation board and, most recently, as its secretary.
She has been in the area for over 20 years and, before her arrival here, lived in the northeast US and England. She has a BA from Converse College and two sons who live in London, England, and a grandson. Monica enjoys making jewelry, gardening, and dancing; she is a former member of the Tap Dames.
The mission of Second Wind is to identify outstanding volunteers who contribute so much to the quality of life in our community and to recognize retirees sixty years and over who had a useful and productive life continuing beyond retirement while others paused to rest. They caught a ‘second wind’ and began a new career of service to the community.
Second Wind Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) organization and welcomes nominations for induction. Requests for nomination forms may be sent to carolbrowning72@gmail.com.
