The inspiration behind The Livery Pourhouse stems from the building’s distinctive barn-like facade, a feature that drew the attention of owner Mike Hrobak. He and his wife, Mandy, share a love for horses, which influenced their decision to purchase the property four years ago.

The name “Livery Pourhouse” pays homage to the historical significance of liveries in the area, where horses were once transported through the train station and housed locally before continuing their journey. This connection to the past is woven into the establishment’s concept, creating a unique blend of tradition and modernity.

The Livery Pourhouse name is rooted in the past, yet it utilizes innovative self-pour technology, which is gaining popularity in the beverage industry. Upon checking in, guests will receive an RFID electronic card that allows them to serve themselves from a variety of taps. And they don’t need to worry about excess foam, as the technology limits it to just the right amount.

“People have become a little impatient with waiting at the bar,” Hrobak says. “This way, they can just come in, get their card, and start pouring.”

The Pourhouse will feature 30 taps, with 12 dedicated to craft beers, as well as a selection of domestic brews. Sampling is also encouraged, enabling customers to try small pours of various drinks without the commitment of a full glass.

Food will be ordered via QR codes on placards at each table, allowing guests to easily access the menu and place their orders for online payment. Once prepared, patrons will receive a text notification when their meals are ready for pickup. Guests can look forward to a diverse menu featuring charcuterie, flatbread pizzas, delicious desserts, and Slovakian and Polish offerings that reflect Hrobak’s heritage.

The Livery Pourhouse aims to create a community-oriented atmosphere, with plans for trivia nights, live music, and games to engage visitors. Hrobak and his son, Jacob, who is an engineer, spent four years transforming the venue. They were guided in their efforts by Keith Rimer of Rimer Corp, which fostered a strong sense of family and community throughout the process.

Hrobak expressed gratitude for community support, inviting everyone to experience the unique space that honors the past while embracing the future.

Livery Pourhouse is located at 60 Pacolet Street. Operating hours will be Wednesday to Thursday from 3 to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
