The Tryon Country Club Men’s Golf Association played a “Mixed Bag” format, along with closest-to-the-pin contests, on April 21, with nine groups vying for the win. The winners were as follows:

1st place – Brad Rakow, Simon Turnnidge, Ed Weatherby, Charles McKeller – 57

2nd place – George Torres, Bill Basye, Richard Barraud, Ken Shull – 58

3rd place – Hub Arledge, Bill Kelly, Dennis Sakos, Art Brown – 61

4th place – Vic Ketchman, Mike Burrell, Tom Bolling, Ken Watson – 62

Closest-to the-pin winners:

#3 – John Schickling – 13’ 11”

#3 Forward -Jim Shirley [p- 17’ 9”

#8 – Simon Turnnidge – 26’ 2”

#8 Forward – Charles McKeller – 9”

The Tryon Country Club Women’s Golf Association played a “Shamble” format on April 22 in a light drizzle. There were 12 ladies who braved the weather to play. The winners were:

1st place – Peggy Henson

2nd place – Patti Aldred

3rd place – Marge Avery

4th place – (Tie) Joyce Arledge & Diane Torres
