Sensational Saturday, upcoming performances announced
SALUDA—The next few months will be busy for the young performers at Mountain Page Theater, with the upcoming Young Actors Krew Summer Camp, Sensational Saturday, and performances at the Saluda Arts Festival and Albino Skunk Music Festival.
Sensational Saturday, set for May 3 from noon to 4 p.m., will kick things off. It will feature live performances of beloved musicals like Shrek and Wicked, a clown, food, and live music. Low-cost tickets are available on Mountain Page Theater’s website.
“May 3 will be a great day to come out and support Saluda,” said Production Coordinator Ashley Sandahl. “With Sensational Saturday during the afternoon and the Green River Bash that evening.”
The children will then take their Sensational Saturday performances on the road, performing at the Albino Skunk Music Festival and the Saluda Arts Festival.
Mountain Page Theater is also still casting children for their upcoming performance of Oliver! and is looking for two male leads for the roles of Mr. Bumble and the villain Bill Sikes. One part requires singing, the other does not.
Mountain Page Theater is currently accepting applications for its Young Actors Krew Summer Camp, an immersive three-week theater experience.
From June 23 to July 11, children ages 5-17 can explore the world of theater by taking on various roles, including acting, stage crew, audiovisual positions, and set design. Daily sessions run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Registration for this selective program will require auditions and interviews, ensuring a dedicated ensemble of young talents. Cast auditions and crew interviews are scheduled for Thursday, May 15, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. or by appointment if needed. Parents can expect to be informed of their child’s acceptance within 24 hours post-audition, with the formal cast and crew list announced on May 19. Following acceptance, a $100 suggested donation per camper will be requested.
In addition to acting and stage roles, campers will also participate in the Coon Dog Day Parade on July 12.
Tickets are currently on sale for their performance of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, scheduled for May 16 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Mountain Page Theater is dedicated to ensuring that all children can experience the benefits of theater, regardless of financial circumstances. The camp operates on a suggested donation basis rather than a fixed tuition fee, emphasizing the theater’s mission of inclusivity and accessibility for all aspiring young performers.
