COLUMBUS—The Polk County Cooperative Extension at 79 Carmel Lane is hosting a free workshop on establishing and managing Bermudagrass pastures on Monday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to noon.

Farmers and landowners interested in optimizing their warm-season grass pastures can gain valuable insights from the workshop. Topics will include best practices for planting and fertilizing Bermudagrass, effective mowing techniques, weed control strategies, and the benefits of incorporating these grasses into pasture systems.

Bermudagrass is highly regarded for its ability to tolerate heat and drought while enduring heavy usage and recovering rapidly. These characteristics make it a popular choice among many lawn owners across the U.S. for its durability. However, its specific climate needs can restrict its general applicability. Depending on your location and the intended use of your lawn, Bermudagrass could be the ideal option for you.
