LANDRUM—Conserving Carolina and Landrum Library will host a free lecture on Earth Day entitled “Native Freshwater Fishes of Upstate SC – Conservation Challenges and Strategies.”
Presented by Kevin Kubach and Rachel Moore, biologists with the Statewide Freshwater Research Program of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources based in Clemson, the program will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at 6 p.m. at the Landrum Library.
Kubach and Moore will provide an overview of native freshwater fish diversity in the uplands of South Carolina, explain how human alteration of native landscapes affects stream and river integrity, and highlight work being done by SCDNR and collaborators to help conserve these aquatic resources. This program will feature live fish and examples of some of the beautiful species living in our area streams and rivers, making it a fun event for the whole family.
This lecture is part of Conserving Carolina’s monthly Speaker Series at the Landrum Library, and it is made possible thanks to the Landrum Library. The next program will be held on Tuesday, May 20, when naturalist and educator Tim Lee will present on “Carolina Meadows.”
Landrum Library is located at 111 East Asbury Drive. For more information, contact Pam Torlina at pam@conservingcarolina.org, or contact the Landrum Library at (864) 457-2218.
