Linda has been in our area since 1978 and is married to Andy Haynes. She moved here from Hawaii, where her father was in the military and stationed there. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and psychology from Converse College.

She and Andy have two sons and two grandchildren. When she is not volunteering, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and playing the ukulele.

Linda’s ability to encourage, facilitate, and promote success in human transactions and relationships has brought her great fulfillment in her professional life. She would like to be remembered for improving the quality of life of those living in Tryon and the surrounding area.

The mission of Second Wind is to identify outstanding volunteers who contribute so much to the quality of life in our community and to provide recognition of retirees sixty years and over who had a useful and productive life continuing beyond retirement while others paused to rest. They caught a ‘second wind’ and began a new career of service to the community and mankind.

Second Wind Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) organization and welcomes nominations for induction.  Requests for nomination forms may be sent to carolbrowning72@gmail.com.
