TRYON—On Friday night, March 28, the Town of Tryon was alive with energy as it hosted its second 4th Friday event of the year. The evening brought together locals and visitors for a celebration filled with live music, food tastings, book signings, and more, creating a vibrant community atmosphere in Downtown Tryon.

On Trade Street, St. Luke’s Plaza welcomed the unique sounds of the Asheville-based instrumental group Holler & Crow. Comprising Lark Frazier, John Snead, and Jenny Walls, the trio captivated the audience with their eclectic mix of traditional Celtic and Irish tunes and what they call “Lord of the Rings music.”

Katie D’s Sea Shack welcomed the popular duo Pearls Collide, while Wild Petunias offered attendees delicious Raven’s Nest Jam samples. Adding to the local flair, The Nest hosted a book signing for local author and artist Karen Killian, featuring her latest work, Cheers, which showcases her charming pet portraits.

Over on Pacolet Street, the musical duo Chartreuse, comprised of Christine de Michele of Tryon and Tim Bolton of Hendersonville, entertained guests at the Mirrorball Gallery with their improvisational style. The gallery buzzed with activity, featuring ping pong games on its back porch and delicious offerings from the food truck, The Toasted Cuban. The night was a precursor to the Saturday Meet the Artist event and Exhibition Opening for Jennifer Bedenbaugh’s impressive “COUNTERPOINT” Series.

The Fitzgerald added to the musical night by serving hot dogs from Columbus’ Doggystyle, while the father-daughter duo The Masci’s, from Hendersonville, provided a nostalgic rock and roll soundtrack.

Fourth Fridays are a popular tradition in Tryon put on by the TDDA. They take place monthly from February to November when local shops remain open later to attract visitors after work hours. Typically scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, these events feature various specials, live music, and refreshments, inviting everyone to shop, dine, and enjoy the unique offerings of Downtown Tryon, including its historic movie theater.

The next 4th Friday is set for April 25th, promising another opportunity for community engagement and celebration.
