POLK COUNTY—Efforts to contain the Black Cove Complex Fire are making strong progress,thanks to the tireless dedication of emergency responders. Authorities remain vigilant, ensuring the safety of residents by providing timely updates, evacuation guidance, and health advisories.While challenges remain, the community’s resilience and cooperation continue to make a difference in protecting lives and homes.

The Black Cove Fire is 3,500 acres and is 35% contained.The Deep Woods Fire is 3,970 acres in size and is 32% Contained. The Fish Hook Fire is 199 acres and is 100% contained.

Currently, there aren’t any mandatory evacuations in the area but as the Black Cove Complex Fire continues to evolve, residents within the evacevacuation preparedness areas should remain prepared.

Holbert Cove Road and Green River Cove Road are now open to residents only.

Polk County Emergency Management encourages residents to return cautiously and to document any property damage with photographs for the purpose of filing insurance claims.

Due to no mandatory evacuations in effect the shelter at “The Meeting Place” Senior Center and laundry and shower facilities will be closing at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 30.
