The accident occurred at approximately 1 p.m., according to crew members with Jackson Wrecker Service.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Highway Patrol, and the Columbus Fire Department were all on the scene.

Jackson’s Wrecker crew says the cause of the accident is unknown, but there are many factors that may have caused the accident. The tractor-trailer was hauling mulch, and much of its contents spilled out on the side of the on-ramp.

Crews were still on the scene when contacted. They said cleanup should be complete by 5 p.m., and the on-ramp should be accessible around the same time.
