LANDRUM– On Saturday, March 22, the Joe Cunningham Pavilion was bustling with energy as it hosted the Second Annual Paws for Landrum, a much-anticipated event dedicated to celebrating our furry friends and promoting animal welfare.

Presented by the P3 Animal Assistance Foundation in collaboration with the City of Landrum, the Paws for Landrum event draws locals and visitors from across the region. All are eager to engage in a day filled with fun, education, and connection to animal-friendly resources.

“We love our pets, and it’s a joy to bring together animal lovers along with local businesses, rescues, and services,” said Kelly Vinesett P3 Animal Assistance Foundation. “Most people in our community don’t know about all the rescues and organizations, and this gives them a great chance to see all the ones in the area.”

Since 2015, the P3 Foundation has been instrumental in promoting and funding various animal rescue partners. As a completely volunteer-driven organization, it works tirelessly to support both the animals in need and the families within the community.

“We love Paws for Landrum; it is a great way to bring families together to meet adoptable dogs,” said Foothills Humane Society Director of Operations Sarah McDonald. “We adopted a pair of dogs last year and signed up some new volunteers.”

Paws in Landrum provides attendees with an opportunity to learn about local animal resources and financial assistance programs designed to ease the burden of pet ownership. The event fosters a sense of community pride and showcases the incredible support system available for animal lovers.

“Paws in Landrum is a great event for everyone to network, showcase their pets and participate in the larger conversation about animal welfare,” said Tricia Taber, Marketing Director for the City of Landrum.

The event featured booths from local organizations and businesses dedicated to animal care. Among the 50 participants, highlights included Polk County Animal Control, the Foothills Humane Society, Guiding Reins, Red Bell Run, Service Dogs for Veterans and local craft vendors like Dragonfly Pottery and Elaine’s Attic.

The presence of local student groups, such as the Landrum High BETA and ROTC, added a unique dimension to the event. These groups demonstrated the youth’s commitment to community service and animal welfare.

As the day progressed, attendees enjoyed various activities, raffles, educational sessions, and fun moments with their pets. From hands-on demonstrations to community outreach programs, Paws for Landrum united locals in their passion for animals.
