The Polk County High School boys’ golf team secured a solid third-place finish Monday in the second Mountain Foothills 7 Conference match of the season, held at Morganton’s Mimosa Hills Golf Club.

Under cool, cloudy conditions, the Wolverines posted a team score of 342, trailing only conference leader East Rutherford (318) and Hendersonville (336) on the par-72 course.

Senior Myles Menetre led Polk County with an 80, continuing his strong early-season play. Menetre birdied the par-5 third hole en route to a two-over 38 on the front nine, then followed that with a 42 on the back nine to place sixth overall.

The Wolverines received matching 86s from Tourin Jackson and Piercen Edwards, while Brody Wilkins rounded out the team scoring with a 90. Tanner Osborn finished with a 115.

East Rutherford players captured four of the top five individual spots. Aden Spratt earned medalist honors with a 76, while teammates Brook Jarrell, Jacob Holland and Brandt Herndon all carded 79s, tying with Patton’s Mason Brown for second place.

Behind Polk County in the team standings were R-S Central (364), Chase (370), Brevard (371) and Patton (387).
