Fire crews on scene of brush fire in Mill Spring

MILL SPRING—In a message shared via the Everbridge Alert System at 3:41 p.m. on Tuesday, officials said that fire crews were on the scene of a brush fire in the Holbert Cove Rd. /Silver Creek Rd. area.
Polk County Fire Marshal Bobby Arledge said in a message at 4:36 p.m. that the fire was 100% contained due to the efforts of fire crews.
There were immediate dangers to structures due to the brush fire. Individuals were asked to avoid the area so crews could work.
Burn bans are still in effect in Polk County, and the N.C. Forest Service has issued an ‘Extreme Fire Risk’ warning for the county.
