POLK COUNTY—The Janice Anderson Brumley Award for 2025 has been presented to Polk County Middle School teacher Jeanne Ferran. She plans to use the award to pursue her National Board Certification.

“I worked with Janice for my first few years at Polk County Middle and she was my mentor and classroom neighbor,” said Ferran. “Her compassionate nature, her care for kids, and her commitment to enlightening students  to draw their own conclusions impacted my own educational practice, and I loved being on her team.”

Mrs. Brumley was a highly respected and well loved educator in Polk County for over 30 years. Her goal was to be the best educator that she could possibly be and knew that she could only achieve this by continually educating herself.
