GOLF: Wolverines earn second in conference match at TCC

Polk County’s boys golf team started their Mountain Foothills 7 Conference campaign Thursday with a promising second-place finish at Tryon Country Club.
The Wolverines posted a team score of 180 over the nine-hole competition, comfortably ahead of R-S Central (184), Chase (195) and Hendersonville (202), but 21 strokes behind East Rutherford’s 159.
East Rutherford’s Jacob Holland claimed medalist honors with an even-par 36 on Tryon’s challenging layout.
Tourin Jackson led the Polk County effort with a solid 41, placing him sixth among the day’s top performers. Myles Menetre contributed a 44, while Brody Wilkins had a 46 and Piercen Edwards rounded out the Wolverines’ team scoring with a 49.
Tanner Osborn (51), Gage Harden (51) and Addie Buss (56) completed Polk’s efforts.
