“Voices from the Past” to feature historical reenactment
COLUMBUS—The community is invited to the Columbus Library on Wednesday, February 19, for a living history performance, “Voices from the Past.” At 4 p.m., Karen McDowell will present a biographical monologue and reenactment about an important historical African American figure.
This program is designed for children ages six and up, teens, and adults.
McDowell has a degree in Theatre Arts from Limestone College and retired from Landrum Library after working as a library assistant for over 32 years. She performs her character reenactments depicting and sharing the lives, history, and works of famous African Americans for various schools, churches, and libraries in the area.
At past performances, she has portrayed Harriet Tubman, Ruby Bridges, and Fannie Lou Hamer. Who will she bring to life on February 19th? Attend the event to find out!
