Museum currently in process of relocating to House of Flags Museum
COLUMBUS—The Polk County Historical Association Museum recently announced its relocation to the House of Flags Museum, along with the “Adopting an Artifact” fundraising campaign to support the move.
For 28 years, the Polk County Historical Association Museum has pursued its mission of collecting, preserving, and educating the community and visitors about our colorful heritage. To continue this mission, they need help from the community.
Susan Speight, fundraising chair and board member, says that a professional moving company will be necessary to transport their artifacts, artwork, and genealogy materials.
“We will also be building new exhibits,” adds Speight. “To accomplish this, we are embarking on a campaign to raise $100,000. The deadline for the move is March 31, and it has already begun with the Genealogy Library and other smaller items.”
The board is asking for tax-deductible donations to support this move and urges the public to inquire about “Adopting an Artifact,” which can be found on the PCHA website. All donors will be invited to a private opening event to honor their support before the new location is open to the public.
“The new year has presented us with an exciting opportunity,” said PCHA President Pat McCool on the move to House of Flags Museum, located on Gibson Street in Columbus. “As the House of Flags is the only museum of its kind in the United States, we believe this move will enhance the visitor experience and become an important attraction for our community.”
