TRYON—On Saturday, February 1, members of the Tryon Parks Committee and other volunteers helped clean up broken glass and random pieces of metal in Tryon.
Their focus was primarily on Ziglar Field, which was the site of the town’s trash pile some 50 years ago. Volunteers picked up eight bags that were filled with just glass and metal. They also removed eight tires and assorted rusted metal parts with an unknown history.
In addition, one twin-size, waterlogged mattress was pulled from the creek next to Vaughn Creek Greenway.
Folks who participated in this volunteer effort were Wayne Albert, Karen Bird, Ellen Golda, Vard Henry, Suzie Hursey, and Greg Miner.
