TRYON—The Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Tryon has announced it is presenting the work of Carol Beth Icard in its art gallery.

Icard lived in Massachusetts all her life until moving to Landrum in 2002. Following a career as a nurse, she returned to college to study art, receiving an Associate of Visual Arts from Berkshire Community College in 1996. She studied with Paola Princivalli Conti in Tuscany, Italy, and had a residency at the International School of Art in Montecastello di Vibio, Umbria.

Preferring a variety of small tools over brushes, she seeks “a balance between artistic principles, intuition, and exploration.”

“I name my work ‘introspective abstraction’ because of my deeply felt response to nature, words and metaphorical forms,” Carol says. “I love finding connections between disparate things – always looking for the hidden message, something essential and personally meaningful.”

The exhibit is on display through the end of March. Located at 150 Melrose Ave., the Holy Cross Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and Sunday mornings.
