These initiatives underscore the Clubhouse’s commitment to the communities it serves.

To combat food insecurity, the Clubhouse has strengthened its partnership with Thermal Belt Outreach and other local organizations, such as Manna and the Polk County Community Foundation, resulting in monthly food and diaper distribution events.

The Clubhouse has also launched the Sunny View Firewood Bank, a new program that supplies free firewood to residents facing economic hardships, particularly during the colder months. Thanks to a generous donation of seasoned firewood, the Firewood Bank is officially open to those who need it. The Clubhouse plans to collaborate with community members to utilize downed trees, ensuring that the bank remains well-stocked while aiding in storm recovery efforts.

“Through these initiatives, we hope to provide essential support without judgment or questions,” said Jessica Toney, the Clubhouse spokesperson. “Our goal is to build trust within the community, empowering individuals to seek assistance when they need it most.”

The Clubhouse has a long history in Sunny View, going back to cooking classes and quilting groups founded by Greek Underwood. In 1962, the organization gained nonprofit status and has since evolved to host various events, including birthday parties, family reunions, and community meals.

The Clubhouse’s commitment to the area is showcased by its ongoing efforts to secure multiple grants that will support even more programs in the future.

Sunny View Clubhouse is located at 95 Coopers Gap Rd. For more information about its programs, call (828) 625-9754.
