TFAC to present John Brown’s “Little” Big Band featuring Shana Tucker

TRYON—Grammy-nominated artist John Brown will bring his “Little” Big Band to the Tryon Fine Arts main stage for a powerful performance on Friday, February 7, at 7:30 p.m. 

Brown’s “Little” Big Band is a powerful jazz ensemble featuring a lineup of 11 musicians. The band will be joined by the riveting vocals of Shana Tucker.

Brown is a jazz bassist, composer, educator, and actor. He currently serves as Vice Provost for the Arts, Director of the Jazz Program, and Professor of the Practice of Music at Duke University.

Tucker’s voice defies categorization. She effortlessly traverses genres and evokes a range of emotions. Her soul-stirring performances are imbued with passion and authenticity, drawing listeners into her nuanced world of song storytelling and musical exploration.

“John’s resume reads like a who’s who of jazz greats that he has performed with, so I think the TFAC audience is in for a treat when this ensemble takes the stage,” said Marianne Carruth, executive director at Tryon Fine Arts Center. “And when you add Shana’s unique blend of vocal artistry, I feel certain we are in store for a very special evening!”
