Showings of classic films to hit Tryon Theatre
TRYON—Starting mid January, The Tryon Fine Arts Center will be partnering with The Tryon Theatre to host a curated collection of classic cinema. For years now, amongst live musical and theatrical offerings, The Tryon Fine Arts Center has screened select films for its patrons, focusing on bringing creative and intellectually stimulating content to Tryon’s artistic community. Moving forward with this established tradition, the titles chosen by The Tryon Fine Arts Center will now be shown at The Tryon Theatre.
This change of venue will keep the film series in downtown Tryon, while expanding the audience experience to include all the beloved trappings of classic cinema. The smell of fresh popcorn, the warm art deco aesthetics, and the immersion of the enormous screen are all inseparable elements of cinematic charm. While The Tryon Theatre will continue to have its own weekly programming, The Tryon Fine Arts Center will host five film screenings, on the second Tuesday of each month, culminating in May.
These aforementioned screenings will begin on January 14th with the famous Coen Brothers crime thriller “Fargo”, a film that cemented their directorial talent, and forever changed America’s feelings about woodchippers. The remaining films are scheduled as follows: “The Shawshank Redemption” on February 11th, “The Talented Mr. Ripley” on March 11th, “The Godfather: Part 2” on April 8th, and finally “No Country for Old Men” on May 13th.
These films will all play at 7 p.m. on the assigned evening, with doors opening at 6:30. Ticketing will be available through The Tryon Fine Arts Center.
To help build anticipation, and to best prepare the audience for each film, The Tryon Theatre will release a film review, on behalf of The Tryon Fine Arts Center, in each preceding Saturday edition of The Tryon Daily Bulletin. We hope our audience will appreciate the new location, and we hope everyone will join us for all these classic films.
