COLUMBUS—On Sunday, December 15, the Polk County High School Auditorium was filled with holiday cheer as the Community Chorus presented their show, “The Magic of Christmas.” Under the direction of Tena Greene-Porter and accompanied by Pam McNeil, the performance captivated the audience with a delightful array of classic holiday songs.

Opening the event, Dave Scherping, the President of the Rotary Club of Tryon, introduced the chorus and emphasized the concert’s importance, reminding attendees that all proceeds would support the Rotary Club’s Scholarship Fund. Scherping also took a moment to wish Dell Morgan, the former conductor who had selected the music for this performance but could not attend due to illness, a swift recovery.

The program featured a festive selection of holiday favorites, including “Christmastime,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and “Believe” from “The Polar Express.” Notable performances included a flute solo by Barbara Tilly and a heartfelt rendition of “Remembering Decembers” featuring soloist James Riedy. The concert closed on a high note with the sing-along classic “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
