Lauria to host TRIFF24 Education Institute workshop
TRYON—The 10th annual Tryon International Film Festival will take place Friday, November 22 through Sunday, November 24, powered by Title Sponsor New View Realty. TRIFF offers a rich lineup of activities promising an unforgettable experience for film enthusiasts of all ages.
Dan Lauria, best known as the father on the highly acclaimed Emmy-winning ABC television show “The Wonder Years,” will participate in TRIFF this year. Lauria has appeared as a guest star in over seventy television episodic programs and more than twenty Movie Of The Week productions. He also has a score of motion picture credits.
He is a familiar face on the regional theater scene, having performed, written, and directed over 50 professional stage productions. In 2010 and 2011, Dan was seen on Broadway as the legendary coach Vince Lombardi in the long-running production of “Lombardi,” directed by Thomas Kail of “Hamilton” fame, with the beautiful and talented Judith Light. Dan returned to Broadway in the 2013 and 2014 productions of the Tony-nominated “A Christmas Story: The Musical,” directed by John Rando.
Dan and his dear friend, the lovely and talented Ms. Wendie Malick, have performed the play “The Guys” by Anne Nelson (about our first responders) for numerous theaters and fire departments around the country. Wendie and Dan also perform “Love Letters” as a fundraiser for regional theaters for the development of new plays. Dan was also recently on the TBS TV show “Sullivan & Son” for three seasons.
Attendees should look for Dan throughout the TRIFF24 weekend and plan to attend his workshop. Lauria will share his insights on acting on Saturday, November 23, during the TRIFF24 Education Institute workshop, “Acting: A Conversation with Dan Lauria.”
The TRIFF24 Education Institute and Dan’s session are open to TRIFF24 pass holders and is free for residents of Polk County and Landrum, with support from the Polk County Community Foundation’s Mary Kessler Fund. Rutherford County residents may also attend the Education Institute at no charge, thanks to support from the Carolina Foothills Foundation.
All Education Institute activities will take place at the Tryon Fine Arts Center, a TRIFF partner and sponsor. The Institute is also supported by Around Tryon Properties.
