LANDRUM—The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Carolina Foothills is sponsoring the “Healing Power of Reminiscence” at the Whimsical World Gallery on Wednesday, November 13. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to noon and is free and open to the public.
“With the holidays approaching, families are making plans to get together for good food and good times — or maybe not,” said Alisa Mosley of the UUFCF. “Holiday gatherings can be times of sadness if a family is separated from or has lost a loved one.”
Bereavement facilitator Robin A. Edgar will gently guide participants through simple sensory prompts to connect with memories that celebrate the times shared with lost loved ones. Utilizing techniques from her internationally sold book, In My Mother’s Kitchen, she has taught The Healing Power of Reminiscence for caregiver organizations such as the National Hospice and Palliative Care and The Alzheimer’s Association in 26 states around the country for over 25 years.
“Robin did a great job of engaging the audience and getting them to interact and reminisce, so everyone left at the end feeling connected to each other and their loved ones,” said Patti Homan, former Program Director PATHways Center for Grief & Loss.
The session is limited to 30 participants to give participants full attention. To register for this free event, contact Edgar at 2robinedgar@gmail.com or 704-651-7156.
Whimsical World Gallery is located at 116 Jones St. in Landrum.
