As recovery efforts continue in Tryon, Polk County, and surrounding areas in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Helene, officials are urging residents to report missing loved ones and request welfare checks through proper channels.
For those seeking information on missing family members or friends, state emergency officials advise calling 211 to report a missing person or to request a welfare check. However, it is important to note that 211 is not an emergency service. Any urgent or life-threatening situations should be directed to 911.
If you are located outside of North Carolina, you can still access the NC 211 call center by dialing (888) 892-1162.
