Cardinals host ‘Landrum Night of Football’

LANDRUM—The Landrum Night of Football preseason jamboree took place on Friday, August 9. The Cardinals came out victorious in their matchup against the Carolina Trojans, with a final score of 20-6 in a half of play.
The action-packed evening at Landrum Cardinal Stadium featured Broome playing Riverside at 6 p.m., followed by the Cardinals against Carolina at 7:30 p.m.
Aiden Kelley opened the scoring for Landrum with a 15-yard touchdown run, supported by a pair of AJ Lindsey runs. Carolina managed to tie the game at 6-6 with 2:37 left in the first quarter.
Quarterback Tye Foster delivered a 42-yard touchdown pass to Micah Mcclentlock, pushing the Cardinals into the lead. Foster would later have a 26-yard run, setting up a Titus Poore touchdown that sealed the victory for the Cardinals at 20-6.
The Cardinals will participate in two more pre-season scrimmages: one on August 13 at Newberry College and one against RS Central in the Centurion Classic at Broome High School on August 17.
On August 23, the Landrum Cardinals will open their regular season with a home matchup against the Walhalla Razorbacks at 7:30 p.m. The team’s last showdown was in 2019-20, which saw Walhalla emerge victorious with a score of 69-14.
