Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Polk County Mobile Recycling collects a ton or more of recycled material between 7 a.m. and noon, Monday through Thursday. On Mondays, we set up in Tryon at Harmon Field. On Tuesday, we are at Saluda in the public parking area (turn right just before the bridge), the Green Creek Fire Department on Wednesday, and Columbus on Thursday.

The following items are recyclable: glass bottles, plastic containers with a number (1-7) stamped in a triangle, aluminum and steel cans, paper, books and magazines, and corrugated cardboard. Batteries and lightbulbs are also accepted.

Tin foil, pie pans, coat hangers, plastic bags, flower pots, wax-coated milk cartons, and containers that have held motor oil, gasoline, herbicides, pesticides, antifreeze, or poisons do not qualify for recycling. Oil and antifreeze can be recycled at the landfill as all-metal items.

Steel cans, cat food cans, sardine cans, etc., go with plastic. Aluminum (drink cans only) has its own separate bin. No other aluminum is allowed.

Glass other than bottles, such as mirrors, drink glasses, and dishes, are not recyclable.

Please crush your gallon plastic milk jugs and separate your recyclables before you come to the trailer.

Thank you to all our devoted recyclers. Your hard work is much appreciated.
