Learning center to occupy former Forbes Pre-K building
TRYON—Last week, it was announced that Miss Tammy’s Little Learning Center will be opening its fifth location in the area, and will be housed in the building formerly occupied by Forbes Preschool in Tryon. Polk County Schools constructed an on-site preschool facility at Tryon Elementary School, which will be available to students for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond.
Miss Tammy’s Little Learning Center is a family owned and operated early education and care center that specializes in providing quality child care in a developmentally appropriate environment.
Originally opened in Landrum in 1993 by Tammy Compton, the learning center quickly became the go-to child care center in Landrum, and together with her son, Thomas Compton, the duo went on to open three more Miss Tammy’s Little Learning Centers in the Upstate.
With the new location, the Comptons look to bring their playful spirit and their fun and unique education programs to downtown Tryon.
“As there is a desert of quality early education centers between Asheville and our Landrum location, we knew this was necessary for the community,” said Thomas Compton on Friday. “We are very excited to start this process and look forward to serving the community in and around Tryon.”
Details of a grand opening and an open house will be released on a later date, and hiring opportunities to become part of the Miss Tammy’s Little Learning Center family will soon be announced.
The new learning center is located at 25 School St. in Tryon.
